The weather outside is frightful (for some), people are decking the halls and Santa Claus is on his way to town. It’s officially the holidays – which also means holiday shopping is in full swing. The season is already off to a crazy start with Cyber Monday sales reportedly up 16% year over year, and some businesses like Wayfair, reporting a 109% increase in sales over the Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend (shout out to our local Boston homies).
And the craziness doesn’t stop there, according to an article published yesterday by ReelSEO:
One in every four shoppers says online videos are their go-to source for gift ideas, and 32% of shoppers say they plan to use online video more this year for holiday purchases.
Cyber Monday sales were reported at $3 BILLION (billion, with a b) this year – we’re not sure how many shoppers that equates to, but it’s safe to say that the number is in the hundreds of millions… and 25% of them are turning to video content to help with their purchasing decisions. Perhaps we should be singing “Tis the season for video content?”
