This Youtube creator, stylist, blogger, mommy-of-two is the total package! We recently had the chance to catch up and it was a blast getting to hear all about her life. Her channel covers everything from helpful styling tips, trends she’s loving, what to wear, and that’s just brushing the surface! BusbeeStyle is going to be your new go to fashion fav!
Meet Erin Busbee:
What inspired you to get into YouTube?
A friend of mine actually encouraged me to start- her name is Marnie, aka “MsGoldGirl” on YouTube! I also have a background in TV and used to work at WCBS in New York as both a producer and a reporter, so this was a natural fit. I am able to utilize both my wardrobe styling skills and my production/on camera experience!
How do you balance other responsibilities and running a YouTube channel?
This is a daily battle and I have to be quite disciplined! I’m the mom of two little ones (6 and 4) which definitely makes it even more challenging. I produce two original videos a week, create four blog posts, and at least four email newsletters. On top of that, I manage my own social media platforms in addition to taking all my own outfit pictures and editing all of my own videos… so you might say I wear a few hats! Structure, discipline, efficiency, organization, and passion are all required to maintain this pace and production schedule.
How has your content changed since you started your YouTube channel?
I don’t think my content has changed dramatically, but my production value has changed! I used to sit in front of the computer and tape videos. Now I have lights, a DSLR camera with a beautiful lens, and a lavalier microphone. My delivery has also improved greatly as I’ve become more comfortable with the format. In the beginning, I was a newscaster making YouTube videos and now, I’m just me.
What would you say to someone thinking of starting a YouTube channel?
I would say firstly that you have to be patient. It takes A LOT of time to build a channel and don’t expect overnight success(although in rare cases, that happens). I’ve been building my channel for more than 2 years. You don’t have to produce amazing videos out of the gate; just get it going and you’ll figure things out as you go. One last piece of advice is to think about what you are offering or what you have to offer that no one else does on YouTube. My niche is “style how-to” videos for women over 40.
Any big plans for this year? What are your channel goals?
I would really love to continue growing this year to reach 30K subscribers, and I would also love to continue my fiscal growth!
How can Grapevine help you achieve your YouTube goals?
Things like [Grapevine] can help me reach my goals. I think marketing and getting the word out about my channel is very helpful. I also think offering wonderful brand collaboration opportunities is helpful. Grapevine is helping YouTuber creators monetize their time and talents. We appreciate you!
What is something your subbies might not know about you?
People are usually surprised to learn that I am pretty athletic. I played soccer in college and I ran my fastest marathon in NYC in 3 hours and 24 minutes.
